How we collect, use and protect your personal information.
1. Who we are
This website, moniqueetkind.com, is operated by Monique A Chesler, a sole trader trading as Monique Etkind (ABN 78 435 120 187) ("we", "us", "our"). Monique Etkind is a dietitian in private practice, a speaker and the co-founder of meforme™.
We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy explains how we collect, use, store and disclose personal information through this website and our newsletter.
meforme™ (meforme.com.au and the meforme™ app) is operated by ME4ME PTY LTD and has its own privacy policy. Clinical records held by Monique's private practice are handled under the separate privacy policy of that practice, which is available on request.
2. What we collect
Through this website we may collect:
- Enquiry forms: your first and last name, email address, the type of enquiry (appointment, media and speaking, or practitioner/referrer) and your message.
- Newsletter sign-up: your first name and email address.
- Technical information: your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited and similar data. This is collected automatically by our website platform through cookies and server logs.
Please don't send health information through the website. Our contact page asks you to keep personal health details for your appointment. If you include health information in a message anyway, we will treat it as sensitive information. We will use it only to respond to your enquiry, and we will not add it to our marketing lists.
You can contact us without giving your name, but we may not be able to respond properly.
3. Why we collect it
We use your personal information to:
- respond to your enquiry, including appointment, speaking, media and referral enquiries
- send you the newsletter you signed up for
- run, secure and improve this website
- meet our legal obligations.
We will not use your information for any other purpose unless you would reasonably expect it, you consent, or the law permits it.
4. Newsletter and marketing
We only send marketing emails if you have subscribed or otherwise consented, in line with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the website and our communications, and only as needed. These include:
- HighLevel / LeadConnector: website hosting, forms, CRM, email and our newsletter
- Monique's private practice systems, if your enquiry becomes an appointment (handled under the practice privacy policy)
- professional advisers (accountants, lawyers) where needed
- anyone else where required or authorised by law.
6. Overseas storage
Some of our service providers, including HighLevel, store data on servers outside Australia, mainly in the United States. We take reasonable steps to ensure they handle your information in a way that is consistent with the APPs.
7. Cookies
Our website platform uses cookies and similar technologies to make the site work, remember your preferences and understand how the site is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the site may not work properly.
8. Security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Access to our systems is limited to people who need it.
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires, and then delete or de-identify it.
If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.
9. Access and correction
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by contacting us (see section 11). We will respond within a reasonable time, usually 30 days. If we refuse, we will tell you why.
10. Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first. We will respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the OAIC at www.oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
